Getting the best retention from your permanent makeup session depends on your attention to prep and after care.

01

Two weeks prior- Avoid intense sun exposure (we cannot work on sunburn), chemical peels, laser facial treatments, and fillers. If you are getting eyeliner or brows, discontinue lash serums and brow serums one month prior to avoid bruising or bleeding. Avoid scheduling PMU before beach vacations.

02

One week prior- Discontinue retinol products around the area to be treated. Schedule any Botox appointments before this point. Avoid waxing, electrolysis, or otherwise irritating the skin in the area to be treated.

Eyeliner- Have lash extensions removed a few days prior to liner procedures. We can not tattoo on eyes with extensions.

Lips- If you have ever had a cold sore, ask your doctor to prescribe Valtrex to avoid a breakout. The irritation to the lips make breakouts common during healing. Hydrate your lips and exfoliate lightly 2-3 times the week prior. Dry or chapped lips do not take pigment well.

If you take prescription blood thinners, please speak with your doctor for permission to take a break from them a couple days prior to your treatment. Permanent makeup can still be performed with blood thinner use, but we cannot guarantee results, and there may be additional swelling or bruising.

03

24 hours prior- Limit alcohol, fish oil, vitamin E, or ibuprofen. Please avoid excess caffeine the day of your appointment. For lips, discontinue lip plumper gloss use. For eyeliner, wear glasses.

Review the directions and parking info. You’ll be provided with your aftercare products and instructions at your appointment. We’ll see you at the pink barn!

After-care

Great retention is up to you! Here’s how to get the best healed results!

Great results come from great after care! Follow our instructions for the best color retention!

The Healing Process - Brows

Day 1: Yay brows! But they’re kind of red.

Days 2-4: They are too dark!

Days 5-7: Flaking

Days 8-10: The disappearing act!

Days 14-28: The reappearing act! A bit patchy still.

Touch up

Brows

Wash gently morning and night with fingertips. Pat dry with paper towel. Apply provided balm (oily skin may skip this step). Brows will flake around day five, and will be fully healed in 7-10 days. *Brows will appear redder, and about 20% darker and more defined for one week*, then appear softer when healed. You may have initial redness on the skin while healing. If you have oily skin, blot excess oil and do not use balm.

Some people will notice the color disappear around day 7, then begin to emerge again around day 14. The color may change for up to four weeks. Your follow up session will be scheduled for 4-8 weeks after your initial session to adjust color and perfect shape.

Avoid sun exposure, chlorine, natural bodies of water, and any cosmetics touching the treated area during the healing process. *No beach trips* Please contact your Dr if any signs of infection appear.

Don’t forget to schedule your touch up for 4-8 weeks out from your first session!

The Healing Process- Lips

Day 1: Swelling, bright lips

Days 2-4: Dry and may be chapped

Days 5-6: All that chapped skin is peeling!

Days 7-13: The disappearing color stage!

Days 14-28: The reappearing color stage!

Touch up

Lips

Wash gently morning and night with fingertips. Pat dry with paper towel. Keep lips very hydrated with provided balm. Blot when needed. They may be swollen the first two days and will be much brighter. Lips will chap and peel for a few days, and will heal about 40% lighter. This usually is resolved by day five.

The color will “bloom” in about two weeks, but may change for up to 8 weeks for darker lips. Your touch up session will be scheduled for 6-8 weeks after your initial session to adjust color and perfect shape.

Avoid sun exposure, chlorine, natural bodies of water, and any cosmetics touching the treated area. Please contact your Dr if any signs of infection appear.

Don’t forget to schedule your touch up for 4-8 weeks out from your first session!

Eyeliner

Wash gently morning and night with fingertips. Pat dry with paper towel. Eyeliner may or may not flake. Please do not apply additional cosmetics over the area while healing. You may have swelling on the eye lid area. If you apply ice packs, please use a towel between the pack and your skin so it doesn’t stick. If lids feel tight or dry, you may apply a tiny bit of balm.

Some people will have the color appear lighter after about a week, then begin to emerge again. The color may change for up to four weeks. Your touch up session will be scheduled for 4-8 weeks after your initial session to adjust color and perfect shape.

Avoid sun exposure, chlorine, natural bodies of water, and any cosmetics touching the treated area. Please contact your Dr if any signs of infection appear.
